crafty project... going for it!

EM Design has really been cranking on some fun projects this last month!  I need to post a few snap shots of what I've been up to (will next week)!  With all the craziness of my schedule, I've tried to 'fit in' a quick gig of doing an episode of Room Crashers for HGTV.  We are filming next month, {I'm NOT on camera- phew!} just doing the design and management of executing it.  If you haven't seen the show, look here.  
With a lot of 'design build' on the show and fun DIY projects for the home owners, I thought it would be perfect to try Overlays on an IKEA wardrobe!  Stay tuned for more pics but this is just my initial idea to dress up a Botne wardrobe! I selected the Gigi series, should be so beautiful on this piece!

pink is not just for babies

I have been intrigued by blush pink since I started seeing it released in so many Spring 2012 fashion collections.  I wouldn't typically define myself as a girly girl, as I'm more drawn to casual environments and blue jeans much more than Pink.  But lately, I've been really into all things, pink Pink PINK.  So does that make me a girly girl?!  I'm even integrating the fantastic soft color into my new branding identity. 
When it's used right, it doesn't have to be a baby color.  It's soft and sophisticated.  In the room I'm designing for the SF Showcase house,  I'm becoming known as the girl with the 'Pink' room since my walls and trim are all painted this fantastic shade of blush Pink!  {color: C2-2022 Winsome} 
 

Kate Schintzius' West Hollywood apartment.  With subtle pink walls, gold accents and pattern choices this room boasts a "Palm Beach in the 70's" vibe.  I love everything about this room!

I recently had Jenna at Q.A. Design revamp my personal blog.  I had completely dropped the ball with updating it since I had my daughter 1.5 years ago.  It was a fun way for me to share photos with my family & friends and was also a great way to remember funny quotes my kids said.  I know great- grandma loved seeing my posts and I surely missed sharing my experiences with everyone.  

Parenthood to 2 young ones posed to be too much to keep it up but, I finally dusted off the blogspot and started posting again!  It feels rewarding; my virtual photo book is back.

My life has been all serious, all business, all the time lately.  I think it's time to lighten up!  I was perusing through a British magazine and found some fab product all with either laser cut or doily themes.  Just saying the word d-o-i-l-y makes me smile.  Try it, say "Doily." 
Big smile on your face, right?!  I like the perfect combination of modern and feminine, a doily rug made with rope or the Alden style suede shoes with lace.  I love the idea of a women wearing men's shoes, with a twist!

home office updates

I am in the works of updating our small spare room to have 100% Emily space!  An extra desk, new computer, storage, organization!  I'm on it... hopefully by the end of the month, I will have beauty in here.  I can see light at the end of the tunnel- March will be nuts!

what have you been up to?!

Ok... so you know it's bad when your husband says at dinner, "Babe, you really need to update your blog."  It's not that I haven't wanted to blog, I think about it everyday, my issue is...well, I have a lot going on right now!  Everything happening all at the same time, a lot!
For some reason life went into super fast forward mode in January and I have not had a second to catch my breath.  It's all good things, trust me!  For starters work has picked up a lot.  I currently have a couple fantastic projects that are wrapping up, clients are having babies, I'm installing a project almost every week, Showcase is in full force and I've decided to try to re-brand, design new biz cards and also try to get pro shots of my own home done.  Yup, that is what I'm doing.
I have managed to try to find a few moments of quality family time on the weekends and we really let loose and have fun when we can!

It all started feeling very REAL when I saw my name on the website!

I have already gotten a couple inquiries from potential clients who have seen my name on here.  What an incredible experience so far and the home isn't even complete yet!

COLOR!

My color scheme for this room has been so much fun to play with!  Drapes with Siriano dresses as inspiration, re-movable wallpaper that is never been used- literally fresh off the press!

Obviously Work is one side of my life, then I also get to spend time doing things like this:
WEEKEND FUN

Day trip to Sonoma where we played a the Corner Stone outdoor sculpture garden. Kids loved running around!  And I can't complain that we've had days in the 60's & 70's all winter long.

An actual night away from the kids.  A friend threw a 'Vintage Ski' themed party!  It was a blast, got to spend a night outdoors in the middle of Feb in our funky snow gear.  Great times Kim!  I'm the dork in the vest on the bottom right.

First time taking kids to Tilden Park in Berkeley.  They have an adorable petting zoo right there!  The Bay Area is so great, this is a 10 min drive from the City.  My kids are way into farm animals, Isabel singing "E-I-E-I-O!"

These amazing moments with my kids are what energizes me to power through the crazy growing pains of starting my own business.  I feel blessed to have it all, supportive husband, successful biz and the cutest Kids ever!  I can bask in it, can't I?
