Nursery trees

I just finished an adorable nursery for a client who was quick to make decisions pending the arrival of her baby girl.  Coming to me in her 3rd trimester, we didn't have much time to pull this together.   Expecting her second girl she wanted to create a space that was sweet but not too girly.  After finishing a modern remodel to their Edwardian home, all that remained of the old world feel was the exterior facade.  The room provided me with a fantastic blank slate with only an accent wall painted a soft blue/green.
Here is a sneak peek of of the process...
We chose to use white birch tree decals on the accent wall which was the backdrop to the crib and changing table.  An Esty mobile of pink dots was added for a distraction above the changing table.  My favorite touch was the Serena and Lily bedding ' Nursery basics in Punch'.  The Aqua/Melon sheets added just enough punch of color.  On the opposite was is a Dwell Studio rocker, BluDot lamp and ABC print from MadeByGirl.  We were also able to fit the Oeuf Mini Library in birch (not shown).
I'm waiting for some final touches, the Madeline Weinrib rug in Coral and some fun accent pillows for the rocker.  I think this little girl will be very happy in her new room!

House of Harlow 1960

Ut oh... Gilt was having a sale this morning with House of Harlow jewelry!  Nothing like a little jewelry shopping to get me going Friday morning.  I'm all about pattern this week so it's fitting that I'm drawn to her collection.  Simple,  graphic yet stunning.   I heart her Summer 2012 collection.
How could I pick just one when I want them all.  Mother of two young {adorable} kids and so so chic!  Gotta love a mom entrepreneur.
And how cute is she!?   Love her style!

Top it off

You noticed, my pant legs aren't evenly folded?  Yup, that kind of day...  Hey I got dressed and made it happen, that is what matters.

pattern obsession

This is where I'm at right now-  Obsessing over pattern!  Do we notice a reoccurring theme here?
Aztec, chevron, ethnic, bright, bold and fun!
Not sure what has gotten into me, but I'm saturating myself in bright color & texture lately.  Maybe it's all the teen rooms I've been working on!  Even my wardrobe is bright bright bright lately!

Happy Friday!   Sigh...
It has been a week  full of exciting business adventures.  My super fabulous new designer Laurie was off vacationing at a family beach house on the East Coast-  I was def feeling her absence!  Makes me feel good that EM Design is a team and I couldn't do it without all the support I have!

I'm excited to spend some much needed QT with my family - added bonus the sun is out!

Have a great weekend!

Unexpected Accessory

Stepping out of my comfort zone today, I actually put on shorts.  (I'm am typically not a shorts girl).  Always smart to be prepared for a summer weather change here, I grabbed my husband's Palestinian Keffiyeh and threw it on as a scarf.  What a cute addition to my insanely bright ensemble!

You think I need a tan?!  Goodness!
My black pumps made me feel a little more done up and I def think the scarf made the outfit!

Jackson Bauble Necklace

I was pretty excited last week when I received this necklace in the mail. On my way out to meet friends I threw it on with a sparkly tank, jeans & heels. Talk about making an outfit!  Jess LC, it's a hit!
My custom bauble/ribbon combo: Highlighter Yellow and Mint!

Get yours!  What combo would you pick?  I think I want one of each!
My shopping list continues...
iPad case- Eggplant Leather outer, with Fuchsia interior.

Adorable Tote.  My fellow design girls know I'm always on the hunt for the perfect Tote!
My other newest obsession is the new print I purchased for my home office.  Be Brave.  A great way to start each day with a positive reminder.  I must say that being confident and brave is the only way I've managed to take the leap in starting my own business and supporting my family with two young children.  It's all about taking risks and being brave.  Girl Power!
Thank you Jess LC for the encouragement of your small business of designing with intention!

Ode to Hanging Chairs

It was music to my ears when a client told me her daughter wanted to have a hanging chair in her room.  This why I LOVE doing kids rooms.  It's a way for me to live vicariously through a child and let my creativity run wild.  Kids are great and designing for them is very inspiring.  Don't get me wrong, kids aren't the only ones having fun!
yes I totally dorked out using picmonkey on this board

Adult spaces can be very chic and fun too, let's see how!

For the more organic look, go with a painted Rattan chair.

I've had a crush on this room since I saw it for the first time in Lonny.
I love the teal swing just casually placed in the corner of this mod living room.

One for each kids, so cool!

Stay-Cation Wear

Maxi: Anthropologie / Hat: DeNovo /  Bracelet: Bae Home  / Sunglasses: H & M / Shoes: Steve Madden / Purse: Vera Wang for Kohl's

Summer in the City isn't always a typical summer, it gets chilly here.  Luckily, we live just 15 minutes to an hour away from incredible places that are Warm and Beautiful!  I have family in town so I'm jetting North for a couple days to spend the time with my dad & step-mom who are visiting from Colorado.  There is a kitchey hockey event they come out for every year called called Snoopy's Senior World Hockey tournament.  The kids love watching grandpa skate on ice and when we are back at the hotel we get some pool time and much needed sunshine!
Hopefully we can sneak a little road trip to Bodega Bay...!  Oh fun.

Oh... and Happy Birthday to my cousin Heather! (she's my intern now too!)
