Pattern Play w/ Jamie Lau Designs

It's February and it's 70 degrees, so Yes I can get away with bare legs.  I apologize if I'm blinding you but hey, it's winter!
My sister was lucky enough to shoot Jamie Lau's newest look book this past weekend.  I let them take over my office space for the shoot, the incredible light and white walls made for a great impromptu studio space!  Jamie was nice enough to let me wear a couple of her looks for my Wednesday Wears, which I'll be showcasing over the next week or two.
I mixed up her bright patterned shift dress with my random Emily-ness;  fave jean shirt, fave scarf and the most comfortable heels by Mrs. Albright.  Be sure to follow Jamie on Facebook or check her out here.

happy valentine's day

If there were any day you could get away with mixing pink * red, Valentine's is the day to do it!
I'm a little delirious as we are in the midst of packing up our life and moving North to Sonoma county.
Excited is an understatement.  We've been talking about small town living for years and now we are finally taking the plunge!  Can't even get into it for fear I'll start getting sentimental and weepy.   The transition of leaving San Francisco, my city of Love, is so so so bitter sweet. ahhhhh....

I love this dress but unfortunately I don't busted it out as often as I should. I wore it to my sister's wedding a couple years ago.  It's so unique, a step off what I would normally wear.  I always feel so perfectly girly in it.

seeing red

Is anyone tired of Valentines talk yet?  Well unfortunately, there are still a few more hang on.  In college I remember my single girlfriends and I used to have 'anti-Valentine's day' dinners.  We'd go to a romantic restaurant, drink way too much red wine and have a blast mocking all the mushy lovebirds.  Scrooge I know.
Now, as a mother, I've found a new appreciation for it.  One being that my daughter loves pink & red so much, she thinks it's all for her.
She's 2, so I hear "is it my birthday mama?"  Making Valentines cards together, prancing around and enjoying all things girly, I LOVE this!
Swimming in inspiration, here are some cuties that caught my eye recently.

little blue dress

This dress is so comfortable!  It's like wearing pj's.  This week is Design San Francisco at the San Francisco Design Center.  There are great lectures and events all week.  I kicked it off Tuesday by going to Eric Cohler's book signing for his newest release Cohler on Design.  It was hosted at this great new store- Hudson | Grace.  They carry beautiful table top and accessories, I love their simple and sleek style.
Today is action packed with events back to back and the big finale of the California Home + Design awards gala this evening.  I submitted my Teen Hang Out Room as a pick for best Showcase Room.  Let's see who wins...
On the heels of the big release of the app- Vine, I'm trying my own first mini Video!  Check out this diddy my sister Sarah of Portraits to the People shot.  Oh so embarrassing seeing yourself on film!

a timeless table

Don't you think it's necessary to own at least one timeless piece of furniture?  One of my favorites has to be the Saarinen pedestal dining table from the Tulip collection.  Eero Saarinen was a Finnish American architect, industrial designer and famous for his purist approach to design.  His beautiful sculptural curves are what makes his designs classics.
He was quoted saying "...I wanted to clear up the slum of legs."
I love this table for my own home, as it's perfect for a tight space and great for kids!
It's a neutral piece that goes with so many different chairs & architectural styles.  I've had fun shopping for just the right combination for our new home.
My inspiration is endless for his table!
