i love being a mom

What a wonderful weekend!  My mom was in town all weekend so we had some serious girl time with the kids.  It was purely delightful!  On mother's day we decided to head to a local winery with my sister and a good friend.  We brought a yummy picnic, found a spot under a shady tree and sat for hours; drinking wine, eating and playing with the kids.  I couldn't have asked for anything more!  Cheers to all the wonderful mothers out there, what a rewarding role we play.

set the table

I had a great time participating in the Red Cross Gala- Hope by Design event last month.  It was the first year they had designers involved, which I think was a great idea.  We were able to take our design skills into a new realm- styling.  Which I Loved!!

I got a lot of inquires about where I found the items I used on the table so I created a little cheat sheet for you!

1-flatware |  2-dinnerware |  3-mugs  |  4-chargers  |  5-stemware  |  6-tie |  7-vase |  8-vase |  9-linens

For my table I liked the idea of a rustic environment.  I was inspired by the images of washed out cotton flags and the simple crafted look of materials that suggest being made by hand.

I wanted my table to feel fresh, crisp, and clean with a crafted element. The table linens and chairs rustic, the place settings are stoneware, flatware has an aged copper element. The linens were a washed cream linen, a little worn but still fresh, showing pops of Red with the Red Cross logo stamped on the trim.

Here is how it all turned out!

Thanks to my sis of Portraits to the People for the great photography!

lights, camera- action!  I didn't attend the actual night of the event, so the people over at Drew Altizer sent this image of the space lit up and ready to go!
